As we move into 2020, people still want to know is SwagBucks worth it and that’s totally understandable. Now let me start off by saying you can make real money with SwagBucks if you spend a good portion of your day online. For those of you who are wondering if it’s a scam- the answer is absolutely not.
But the thing is…you can’t really make as much as you think. At least I wasn’t able to. But if you read toward the end of this review, I offer my recommendation on the best way to earn an extra income online and reveal what IS worth spending your time on. So..
How Much Money Can You Make With SwagBucks?
So ultimately we all want to know how much can you really make with SwagBucks. The short answer is; Yes, you sure can! Well, I have used SwagBucks for some time now and here’s why I continue to do so without even realizing it. SwagBucks is not really a survey company per se, although they do offer this as separate module as well. It is the largest free online rewards program where you can participate in all sorts of marketing related task for real dollars.
Is SwagBucks Worth My Time?
I think it’s safe to say that if you spend most of your time online whether on mobile, tablet, laptop, or PC throughout the day, then yes SwagBuck is worth your time. Most of that time is spent browsing the internet or watching videos anyway. So why not earn points that can be turned into money that can be spent at stores you shop at anyway. They have a browser extension that allows you to earn while searching online and clicking certain ads, watching videos, etc.
How Long Does It Take To Earn Money on SwagBucks
So as a member in about 6 months of using their search bar I’ve cashed out about $500 worth of points into gift cards. I just get the amazon gift cards because you can always find something you like on there.
You earn rewards points that can be then cashed out into gift cards for major department stores (Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc.) I don’t actually use it to make extra money and don’t think you can make a living or even a supplemental income from this. That would be a mistake. Most people save their points up all year just to buy a small gift or two during the holiday season or for birthdays etc.
Here are the ways you can earn free rewards:
- Search the internet using their toolbar (by far the easiest and best way to earn points)
- Get points for your opinions (surveys)
- Playing different games
- Watching all sorts of videos
- Shopping online at certain stores will earn you extra rewards
- By purchasing “Daily Deals” you will get rewarded as well
But again, by far the single easiest way to get involved and earn “SwagBucks” is to use their search engine by downloading their toolbar. This also happens to be the only function I recommend using on SwagBucks because it doesn’t involve wasting your time for very little pay. Actually you don’t get rewarded for all searches and it takes months to save up enough rewards to get anything.
See my top recommended way to earn a real income online down at the bottom.
Chances are you are already searching on Google everyday anyway and probably have never been paid a dime for it. That’s because Google or Yahoo don’t pay. This is a way to instantly change this. By downloading the toolbar you can start getting compensated today for your time. This is what I mean by earning “without even realizing it”. Because you are just doing what you normally would be, by typing in the search bar and accumulating rewards. Sounds too good to be true doesn’t it?
SwagBucks Complaints
You have to accrue quite a bit of SwagBucks, around 500 for $5. I find this annoying and after requesting payment it can take up to 15 days or so, but you can’t really complain because you are not doing anything extra to earn the points, just searching.
There are some saying SwagBucks is a scam because they aren’t being credited properly and that they’re being told to go and ask the survey companies because they don’t have any records etc. You see, SwagBucks presents offers from other companies and then doesn’t take responsibility when things go wrong. I too have experienced this and it seems like they are basically washing their hands of you telling us to deal with the survey companies, etc.
I wouldn’t call them a scam but ideally you don’t want to have to set aside extra time to fill out a survey or participate in the other activities, that is, if you don’t want to. It really is not worth your time. I always felt like they were using me.
It’s okay if you just want to use SwagBucks to surf the web, visit their site to get started. I don’t fully recommend all the other ways to earn points, because I believe there are better opportunities online. Are you trying to earn “good” money online?
Well then, is SwagBucks worth it? Not really, especially if you are looking to make in the thousands of dollars per month; then this is not for you. A lot of the other tasks that you can do within SwagBucks are a somewhat of hassle to deal with, are time consuming and do not necessarily compensate you enough to make it worthwhile in my opinion.
If you want to start using your time more effectively and earn extra income on the side then there are much better ways. Here is the review of my # 1 recommended online community that shows you step by step all the best ways to make money from home. This is also a free opportunity, all it takes is just a little action today.
You’ve probably been using the internet for years and haven’t earned any money, so wouldn’t the possibility to make an extra income from doing things you already do online, make “cents”. I hope so. I also hope you got a lot out of reading my honest review of SwagBucks.
Let me know what your thoughts are below and hopefully I can get you pointed in the right direction. I hope I’ve been helpful.

I have been using swagbucks for 5 yrs now, and I will admit when I first started out you got a lot of 1 swagbuck for searches, but on Fridays they were always a lot more. Then they increased the wins to where you could when 5 or more in swagbucks, now I have gotten as low as 4(which I seem to be getting on my every other day search wins) swagbucks on my search wins. Their swag codes that they have out now are usually worth 2 now days, when it use to be the lowest was 4, and make it almost impossible for you to get the code on Saturday. Be careful of their discoveries, I did two in which you had to pay for, the price was nice to start with but with one I spent $200 on and they completely took it off my pending swagbucks (somethings they put as pending to make sure you complete the offer first) The other offer I did get credit for, but I have to keep going with the program for a total of 45 days at $78 a week. I barely scrape by and can not afford this. So my advice stay away from the site until they quit being so greedy. Oh and watch the questions that they ask you off the side of your gold surveys. It is strange how after I answer some questions I get calls about something I answered on those. By the way on iRazoo I earn over 300 points a day just for playing my favorite game.

I have the same issue with feeling like I have to do too much to get too little reward, and I found that it IS true that you can make points towards gift cards, but I have to say that I prefer the option to get an actual check-in-the-mail with other sites.

Thanks for sharing Kat. I find that survey sites suck up way too much time with way too little payout. If you haven’t yet, then read the review I did on Wealthy Affiliate here if you are serious about learning how to earn a real income online. I am also offering free mentoring, you can sign up here.

The search bar is not an option for me coz I like google and not yahoo, All pay from Swagbucks get lower every year and their profits go up.
So I’m getting real tired of swagbucks.

I have been signed up for about a week and already made over 200 SB. I notice everyone saying that they are having troubles earning SB, but it’s really not that difficult if you keep doing surveys and watching the videos. I was watching the videos and just received an award for watching 10 in a row.
Lev says
Hi Cassie and thank you for the honest feedback. I’m glad everything is working out for you. It’s helpful for other people to hear that. Any additional updates would be appreciated as well. Take care and happy earnings.

I am a teenager looking for a way to make small amounts of money without starting up a business, streaming service or website/app. Would you recommend Swagbucks for me – and other teenagers – who would be able to go on daily to watch videos and fill out surveys? Are there any better websites offering the same thing? Also, would I need my paypal account connected to the email address I verified with (if I wanted to receive paypal “gift cards” instead of other rewards)?
Thanks, Olivia.
Lev says
Olivia hi, apologies for the late reply. I would recommend this route for you. Not sure there really is anyone more legit than Swagbucks. As you know they offer a variety of online activities, including searching, shopping, taking surveys, playing games, and discovering online content, and then you redeem those points for retail gift cards, PayPal cash, or other rewards. According to Wikipedia they’re the 153rd most visited website in the United States and serve more than 12 million members and has awarded more than $100 million in retail gift card rewards to its members. And yes you would need a paypal account with email in order to receive cash. Not sure the same is true to receive a paypal gift card. It might be a PayPal debit card that you load cash to and then spend that way. Get in there and try it out, ask the customer service rep, they’ll help get you set up. Good luck.

Swagbucks is ok… but it’s not like it used to be before! now it’s hard to earn many SB points.
Lev says
Hey Monkei…I agree that it’s not the best way to earn money online. This goes for all survey sites. If you want to earn real money, an actual income online I suggest you read my review on Wealthy Affiliate University, where you can learn exactly how as a free community member.
